Episode 5: Self Care, You Do Not Have To Be Good
Show Notes

How else would we begin again in a new year, but with the essential Step ONE...self care.  This is a topic to return to over and over throughout a lifetime.

How can we hold ourselves AS WE ARE in devotion, acceptance, respect and loving kindness so that we can live fully and vitally into our relationships, days and experiences?

Because without prioritizing this question, we will likely be diminished and deflated with the demands of a misguided overculture and our own critical inner voices.

So listen as Virginia, Tamara and Susan come at the possibility of prioritizing our self love and compassion from as many angles as we could cram into a short podcast format!  We promise to circle back around often.

In addition, a listener, Siobhan Bedford (the stunning artist responsible for our cover art) requested that we read poetry to you every month and so we have come with Yeats and Oliver and cummings, but also 3 lesser-known Crone poets.  wink.

Let us know what reliable and effective actions and choices are at the top of your self-care list!  We want to hear from you!

Nearly halfway through our first year...whew!

An NPR interview with Andee Tagle:  Try strategic underachievement, or "choosing in advance what to fail at," says Oliver Burkeman, author of Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals.

For My Body Lent

For my body lent, one of a kind
from the library of forms
For this one, with
failing eyes and graceful legs
vulnerable vertebrae, deep hearing ears
This body, its age and streaming
The dreaming this body does
For this bonesack of a billion dancing
reactions
I bow in gratitude.
For being fed this day
by the elements that make me
For being lifted by the wind
like the white pine singing
outside my window
For last light caressing the shore
For five loons gliding by in a line
For the heron's whoop to its lifemate
For the scent of the peach in a bowl on
my table
For the material dearness of today
deep, deep thanks
For my son's first word
For the taste of my lover's tongue
For longing and rapture and loss
For finding my place in the family
I am fiercely grateful.            ~Sue Silvermarie 2001
